Certainly not the easiest match for Serena Williams, but Serena holds 19 victories against Maria Sharapova and Sharapova only 2. The two have never played towards each other in Flushing meadows, through their long careers, so this will be their debute match in US Open Grand Slam.
Williams holds victory against Sharapova in their last 18 matches. The two have not played each other since 2016 Australian Open, since Sharapova was tested positive on meldonium and was suspended for nearly 15 months. Sharapova retutrned in 2017 to tennis, but at that time Williams was on maternity leave giving birth to her daughter Olympia. They were to face each other in the 4th round of French Open 2018, but short before the match, Williams withdrew herself claiming a pectroal injury.
