Lionel Messi was included on Sunday in the squad of Barcelona to be measured on Tuesday to Inter Milan for the Champions League, just over two weeks after breaking his arm.
The Argentinian was included by surprise in the call, although his name on the list was marked with an asterisk indicating that “the player travels without medical discharge.”
Coach Ernesto Valverde said on Friday that he did not rule out the presence of Messi against Inter, but said he was concerned about accelerating the player’s recovery, especially at a time when his team is immersed in a great winning streak without Messi.
Barca beat Sevilla 4-2 after the departure of injured Messi in the middle of the first half and then convincingly defeated Inter 2-0 and Real Madrid 5-1.
On Saturday they defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-2 after beating the Cultural Leonesa 1-0 in the Copa del Rey in midweek.
