According to sources informed on Wednesday, Joe Ingles, a free agency forward, has reunited with Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley after agreeing to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After learning that Kyle Anderson would be leaving the team in free agency, Tim Connelly, the president of basketball operations, reached out to Mark Bartelstein, the agent of Brandon Ingles, to secure a contract that would allow the Western Conference finals to benefit from Ingles’ 3-point shooting and playmaking.
The Utah Jazz, where Ingles, 36, played with Gobert and Conley, often progressed to the playoffs as a unit.
Among players who have attempted 2,500 shots or more since entering the NBA in the 2014–15 season, Ingles ranks fourth best. His career 3-point shooting percentage is 41%, including 43.5% for Orlando last season. This information is sourced from Stats & Information. He is in fourth place, behind only Klay Thompson (41.4%), Steph Curry (42.1%), and JJ Redick (42.9%).
After moving to the NBA from Australia, where he will play for the national team in the 2024 Summer Olympics, Ingles played for a decade. After eight years with the Jazz, he tore his ACL in 2022, ending his career. In the previous two years, he was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks and the Orlando Magic. This year, he seems destined to make it to the playoffs for the third consecutive year, on behalf of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Sources also indicate that free agency forward PJ Dozier and the Timberwolves agreed to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
After playing in Europe for a season after his ruptured ACL in late 2021 with the Denver Nuggets, Dozier, who is 27 years old, has resumed his pursuit of a deal with an NBA team. While playing 19.6 minutes per game for Partizan in the ABA League and EuroLeague, he averaged 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.
With the Nuggets, Kings, Celtics, and Thunder across his six seasons in the NBA, he averaged 5.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg, and 1.6 asts.
