Magic and Franz Wagner have reached an agreement on a $224 million rookie deal

Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner has signed a five-year, $224 million rookie contract extension, which may be valued up to $269 million, according to sources on Friday.

If Wagner is selected to the All-NBA squad, he may earn 30% of the club’s salary cap. According to insiders, the contract was finalized during the July 4 holiday by Jason Glushon, Wagner’s agent.

The Magic’s return to the Eastern Conference playoffs and their best record since 2010-11 were both aided by Wagner, who averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game last season.

His remarkable start to his Magic career included scoring at least 4,000 points before his 23rd birthday, joining Shaquille O’Neal, Dwight Howard, and Tracy McGrady.

According to Second Spectrum, Wagner, who was selected eighth overall in 2021 out of Michigan, had seven 30-point games and was listed in the top ten for both layups and dunks last season.

Wagner is thought of as the finest German player since Dirk Nowitzki, whose brother Moe signed a new $22 million, two-year contract with Orlando on Tuesday.

How much is Franz Wagner’s contract?

Franz Wagner signed a five-year maximum rookie contract extension with the Orlando Magic in July 2024. The contract is worth at least $224 million, with the potential to reach $270 million if he achieves certain performance milestones.

What draft pick was Franz Wagner?

The Orlando Magic drafted Franz Wagner with the 8th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
