Thomas takes stage win and yellow jersey on Tour de France

 

On Wednesday, Gernet Thomas claimed the Tour de France stage win and the top-ranked yellow jersey, with an awe-inspiring ride up the final climb of the 108km run from Albertville to La Rosière.

Thomas, who won the Criterium du Dauphine last month, attacked at the end of stage 11 while 2017 champion Tom Domolin took second place, 20 seconds behind Thomas.

Among the top contenders, Frenchman Roman Pardet, Italian Vincenzo Nepali and Colombian Nairo Quintana crossed the finish line 59 seconds behind Thomas.
