Ernesto Valverde’s future continues to be speculation after Barcelona was eliminated by Atletico Madrid during the Supercopa de Espana semifinals. He reportedly will soon be fired. Then, how the Spanish coach’s response?
Valverde’s hopes of defending the Supercopa de Espana trophy must be destroyed because of losing 2-3 to Atletico at King Abdullah Sports City, Friday (10/1). This is quite painful considering Barcelona had back ahead 2-1 after leaving 0-1.
This defeat made Valverde highlighted again. One of the talks was about his fate and the possibility of relinquishing his post as Barcelona coach. Moreover, during the past few months, he was indeed rumored to be fired.
This uproar finally got a response from Valverde. Openly, he insisted he was not worried about his career. Because the priority is to carry out their duties as a coach as well as possible.
‘The coach only focuses on working hard and giving everything. We know how the world of soccer is. There are no permanent inconsistencies when you lose. You can’t control that. I just focus on myself,’ Valverde said, reported by sport.es.
Valverde claimed there was no time to mourn. He chose to use the available time to conduct an evaluation. Because, Barcelona is still following three tournaments this season, namely La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League.
