FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has expanded his business by taking over the small football club FC Andorra, which currently plays in the Primera Regional Catalana, the Kosmos group, the player’s investment arm, said on Saturday.
“The General Assembly of FC Andorra unanimously approved the transfer of its assets in favor of an Andorran company with several investors including the Kosmos group”, said the investor group in a statement.
“Kosmos welcomes the decision taken by the club and expands its portfolio linked to the sports, media and entertainment industry with this project.”
FC Andorra, founded in 1942, plays in the First Regional Division of Catalonia and spent 14 seasons in the third national division, Second Division B.
Kosmos, founded by Pique, CEO, and president of the firm, is most famous for its acquisition of the Davis Cup tennis, with an injection of 3,000 million dollars in the 118-year competition over the next 25 years in a long format similar to a World Cup that will begin next November in Madrid.
The company’s portfolio also includes television producer Kosmos Studios.
Pique, a four-time Champions League champion with Barcelona and Manchester United and who left the Spanish national team last July, also founded a video game and mobile app developer Kerad Games.
