Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia will have a team in MotoGP starting next year. The team will later become Tech3’s replacement as Yamaha satellite team.
The team named SIC Racing Team will fill the MotoGP grid starting the 2019 season by taking over Angel Nieto Team. The SIC Racing Team, owned by Sepang International Circuit, currently competes in the Moto2 and Moto3 classes.
Yamaha has confirmed the agreement with Sepang International Circuit, which made SIC Racing Team as Yamaha satellite team for three years starting 2019.
“Yamaha Motor Co. is pleased to confirm the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sepang International Circuit. With the MoU between Yamaha Motor Co. and Sepang International Circuit, the team will rent Yamaha YZR-M1 motorcycles for 2019, 2020, and 2021 MotoGP seasons satellite team, “Yamaha wrote in a statement on the official MotoGP website.
SIC Racing Team will replace Tech3 as the Yamaha satellite team. Tech3, the Yamaha satellite team for 18 years, will join KTM starting 2019.
Meanwhile, Angel Nieto Team, formerly Aspar, joined MotoGP in 2010. The team has been a satellite for Ducati, Honda, and Aprilia and this is reinforced by Alvaro Bautista and Karel Abraham in the ranks of racer.
Angel Nieto Team formed by former rider Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar’. Martinez will become Sporting Advisor for SIC Racing Team.
It is interesting to see who the riders who will race for SIC Racing Team. However, the team is reportedly planning to recruit Dani Pedrosa and Franco Morbidelli .
Dani Pedrosa himself will announce a decision about his future in MotoGP Germany next week. Having confirmed leaving Repsol Honda, the Spanish rider is rumored to be joining the Yamaha satellite team. But other rumors say he will retire.
