Manchester United defender Luke Shaw and Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana were called up with England for the September games against Spain and Switzerland.
England coach Gareth Southgate called up 23 players on Thursday, a squad that is largely the same as the one that reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia.
Left full-back Shaw was called up at the expense of his team-mate at United Ashley Young. Other players returning to the national team are Joe Gomez of Liverpool and James Tarkowski of Burnley.
Lallana missed the World Cup after suffering a series of injuries last season, while Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy will replace the injured Nick Pope as a substitute goalkeeper.
England will host Spain at Wembley on 8 September in the UEFA League of Nations and three days later face Switzerland in a friendly in Leicester.
