General Manager of Ducati Corse, Gigi Dall’Igna admitted that the first official MotoGP 2020 test will be used as a benchmark to see how fast the opposing team’s motorbike will pave at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, on February 7-9. Currently, the Italian manufacturer is in high confidence after the Desmosedici GP20 was officially exhibited.
‘There is extraordinary euphoria, then the first test arrives. This will be the first comparison with our opponents. It will be a complicated season, with difficult opponents as both constructors and racers,’ Dall’Igna said on Monday (27/1).
Dall’Igna added that Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci’s comments about the Desmosedici GP20 iron horse were quite positive and the team was increasingly confident looking at the MotoGP race this season.
‘We have prepared well and the drivers’ comments are quite positive. Now we will discuss the possibility of a new framework. There are important developments and we have improved, now we will see how much the others improve,’ added Dall’Igna.
In this season the arrival of the new Ducati garage, Johann Zarco. The French jockey will drive the Avintia Ducati satellite motorbike this season.
Later Zarco will use the Desmosedici GP19 motorbike. Dall’Igna can dig up some information from here.
‘It comes from a completely different motor and its performance will allow us to better understand certain limits. I expect a significant contribution in terms of data collection from Zarco,’ concluded Dall’Igna.
