MotoGP champion Marc Marquez snatched victory from Andrea Dovizioso on Sunday at the last instant of the first Thai Grand Prix, taking an important step towards his third consecutive World Championship title.
After a tough wheel to wheel battle in the final few laps at Buriram, the Spaniard from Honda was slightly ahead of the Italian as he came out of the final corner, winning by 0.115 seconds.
The victory extends the four-time world champion’s lead to 77 points over Ducati’s Dovizioso with four races remaining. Marquez could secure the title in Japan in two weeks’ time if he wins in the Motegi circuit.
