Lopetegui calls Brazilian Vinicius, who could make his debut against Espanyol
Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui called up youngster Vinicius Jr. for Saturday’s home match against Espanyol in the Spanish football league, so the Brazilian could make his debut in the current European champion after his arrival from Flamengo.
Vinicius, 18, has not been called to the first team since he joined the squad in the preseason, a year after his transfer closed for 40 million euros (47 million dollars). He has been playing for Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish third division.
The appointment does not assure that Vinicius will go to the bench of the stadium Santiago Bernabeu since the coach summoned 20 soccer players and will have to leave two out of the team.
Madrid is second in the league with 10 points, two points behind the leader Barcelona.
The Brazilian scored three goals in three games for the Real Madrid subsidiary.
