Joe Gomez stressed Liverpool are ready to face Everton in the third round of the 2019/2020 FA Cup at Anfield Stadium on Sunday (1/5/2020). This is the second Merseyside Derby match this season at a stadium with a capacity of 53,394 spectators.
‘For me, I always like every derby and this is a special match. Regardless of whether it’s a Premier League match or not, we will try to win and I think it’s quite clear,’ Gomez was quoted as saying on LiveScore, Saturday (4/1 ).
Gomez does not seem to be bothered by the condition of Liverpool, which was hit by an injury storm ahead of the game against Everton. So far there have been seven players who are certain to miss the second Merseyside Derby match this season.
They are Naby Keita, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri.
‘I think if you ask everyone in the dressing room, they all have the desire to play every game and I think that’s what’s important for us on this team. There is a real hunger and you feel it,’ said Gomez.
‘At the same time, we want to win a lot of things. And that is the Merseyside derby and we never want to lose so we only take one game at a time and keep doing it,’ concluded Gomez.
