Jose Mourinho gave up Tottenham Hotspur to lose points when they travel to Watford headquarters in the Premier League. However, he claimed to be dissatisfied the referee did not validate the goal made by Erik Lamela in the match at Vicarage Road on Saturday (1/18/2020).
With the draw, Tottenham has not received positive results. They haven’t won the last three matches.
After the match, Mourinho admitted he did not mind the draw. He just didn’t understand why the referee didn’t validate the goal made by Lamela. Even though it was clear that Lamela’s shot had crossed several millimeters from the goal line before being swept away by Ignacio Pussetto.
‘I am talking about Tottenham’s performance apart from the decision of the referee and VAR because I prefer not to comment,’ Mourinho told BT Sport.
‘We started very, very well. We were very dominant in the first half. In the second half, the game was more 50-50 and then we tried with the ammunition we had. We tried in the last period to bring energy, deeper in midfield with Gedson Fernandes] with more, more vision with qualities from Cristen Eriksen.’
‘We are two millimeters away to win the match. Overall it was a good match. That’s the way it is. I know it’s a few millimeters, but goal-line technology doesn’t make mistakes as the VAR did. We have to accept that with two millimeters it’s not a goal.’
