Chilean Manuel Pellegrini did an excellent job as coach of Manchester City, said Pep Guardiola.
Wednesday’s duel will mark the return to Etihad Stadium of West Ham coach, who won the Premier League and League Cup with City in 2014. Guardiola praised the work done at the club by the Chilean, whom he replaced in 2016.
“He did an amazing job. The league he won, the way he played. It was a good team,” said the Spaniard. “I have a lot of respect for the people who played and coached here, especially Manuel. He’s an excellent person, polite and respectful.
The city is second in the Premier League with 65 points from 27 games, one point behind leaders Liverpool, while West Ham is ninth with 36 points.
