Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has received criticism after letting his goal against Newcastle United. Coach Frank Lampard asked him to learn from mistakes.
This was revealed by Lampard ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Hull City headquarters in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday (1/26/2020) early morning Indonesian time. In his press conference session, Lampard was asked whether he would look for a new goalkeeper in the winter transfer window this year.
‘I do not want to bring in a new goalkeeper now. But I am aware of that criticism, and I am not influenced by it,’ Lampard was quoted as saying by BBC Sports.
‘Kepa (Arrizabalaga) is aware of the mistakes he made. That is his nature, and that needs to be improved,’ continued Lampard.
The former Chelsea midfielder also said he would rotate the squad by making Willy Caballero the goalkeeper against Hull City. However, the decision was not a punishment for Kepa’s mistakes, but rather the strategy as well as stamina management.
The match against Hull City will take place at KCOM Stadium on Sunday (01/25/2020) early morning Indonesian time. If you do not want to be eliminated from the tournament, Chelsea must come out as winners.
