Former Juventus coach Fabio Capello is convinced whether Matthijs de Ligt was injured so that it was not relegated when Juventus won 4-0 over Cagliari in Serie A 2019/2020 at the Allianz Stadium, Turin, Monday (6/1/2020). Capello urged that De Ligt be given an adaptation time at La Vecchia Signora – the nickname of Juventus.
De Ligt was once again ejected from the flat Starting XI Coach Maurizio Sarri against Cagliari. The club claims the player is not feeling well.
The former Real Madrid coach supports that the talented young Dutchman is given time to adapt. Capello hinted that Juventus only protected the 85 million euro player imported from Ajax Amsterdam by claiming injury.
‘They say that, but we have to give him time to understand the new system and the new mentality,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia. “(Former Michel star) Platini just spent six months at Juventus.’
Two other players brought in that summer who also struggled to make an impact at the Turin club, returned in the squad against the Rossoblu.
Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot contributed to a 4-0 win at the Allianz Stadium, with Rabiot playing for the full 90 minutes.
‘They are two great players, but they are not in top form,’ Capello added. ‘Rabiot hasn’t played in six months, he’s very tall and needs time to get his best form.’
