Daniel Cormier said Brock Lesnar will ‘be the last fight of my career’
Indeed, even before winning the UFC heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic two weeks back, the double champion of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Daniel Cormier had just been adamant about retiring by his 40th birthday in March 2019. However, before riding off into the sunset, he plans to fight Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones, in no particular order.
If his plan works, “DC” will be fighting late in the year, then sometime in early 2019. But as for his swan song, the 39-year-old Cormier has already declared that it would be against Lesnar.
“He’ll be the last one. He’ll be the last fight of my career,” Cormier said (via MMANYTT). “Will he be next? I don’t know. I hope so but I’ve still got a belt to defend at 205 [pounds] to think about.”
“I would prepare myself to win and to defend the title,” Cormier said. “Any time you’re in a UFC title fight it’s a big deal and for anybody to say they didn’t get up for it is crazy.”
“You’re a professional. You’re a fighter. You have to get up for these events.”
