Chelsea fulfilled their hopes of advancing to the fourth round of the FA Cup. Wearing a new uniform, the Blues defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. Sunday (5/1).
In the home match, the West London club deliberately wore a new jersey as a form of commemoration of the 50th anniversary of appearing in the FA Cup, or since its first win against Nottingham in 1970.
Apparently, the uniform brought blessings to the host. Because Chelsea appears extraordinary and managed to achieve positive results. In fact, Frank Lampard’s fleet was able to score two goals throughout the first half through Callum Hudson-Odoi (6) and Ross Barkley (33).
In the second half, Chelsea was not able to widen the advantage. The meeting of the visitors’ defense makes opportunities to add goals that can not be maximized. But, that was enough for Pedro Rodrigue et al to advance to the next phase.
This victory makes Chelsea pass three games in a row without defeat. And, at the same time make up for minimal results in the Premier League’s latest party where they share the results 1-1 cons Brighton & Hove Albion.
For Nottingham, they must bury their hopes of winning the FA Cup. Sadly again, this also damaged the positive hegemony that Sabri Lamouchi’s team posted. Previously, they had passed three consecutive matches which all happened in the Championship with a win.
