Brock Purdy of the 49ers is no longer a rookie in the eyes of the Cowboys’ coach.

The next NFL playoff game will mark Brock Purdy’s second career start in the postseason for the NFL. The rookie quarterback will make only his seventh career start in the National Football League during Sunday’s Divisional Round game between his San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. This will be his eighth game appearance overall with significant playing time.

During Week 13, Purdy took over for an ailing Jimmy Garoppolo as the starting quarterback. At that time, the 49ers were in the midst of a victory run that extended to four games. When Purdy took over at center, the winning streak continued. The last time San Francisco was defeated on October 23, 2022, and since then, the squad has gone on to win 11 straight games.

Even though Purdy is just starting out in the league, he has shown that he can play with the composure and talent of an experienced player. He has accomplished all that was required of him, allowing him to shed the nickname of “Mr. Irrelevant,” which was attached to him as a result of being the last overall choice in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys won’t take the 23-year-old quarterback for granted at any point. During Saturday’s victory against the Seattle Seahawks, Purdy threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns while also scoring one on the ground. The final score was 41-23.

This week, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy was quoted as saying, “He’s not a rookie anymore in our viewpoint,” which was reported on by 95.7 The Game” His intrinsic qualities, together with his elevated awareness and self-assurance, “He certainly exudes an air of self-assurance, which is impressive coming from such a young player. You won’t witness a younger athlete acting rashly or making hasty choices.”

Since taking over for Garoppolo on December 4, 2022, Purdy concluded the regular season having completed 68.3 percent of his pass attempts for 1,308 yards, three picks, 13 touchdowns and a running score. His completion percentage was the highest it has been since Garoppolo took over.

Purdy is well aware that he is participating in an extraordinary activity. However, despite his age, the quarterback has a lot of self-assurance. He never had any reservations about his ability to be a good quarterback.

Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers’ head coach, said on Monday that Brock “loves playing football.” “Whether you saw him play in college or at practice, he always had that expression on his face. He has a competitive nature. He is very competitive and has a genuine passion for the game, and you can feel it in his body language when you succeed in the game.”
