FC Barcelona has revealed what the construction process of its ambitious project ‘Espai Barca’ will be like a simulation video that shows the club’s plans to renovate and extend their Nou Camp stadium and renovate its other facilities.
The video shows how the capacity of the Nou Camp will increase from 99,000 spectators to 105,000 and the installation of a roof that will cover the entire stadium. Currently, three sides of the pitch are exposed to the elements.
The construction work on the stadium will take place at the end of the season and will last three years, starting in 2019, so that the team can continue to play on the field without interruptions.
Work on the new stadium is set to be completed by the 2023/24 season, and the club says it will cost 360 million euros.
The club has already begun work on a new stadium for its youth and reserve teams, which will be named after Dutchman Johan Cruyff and will be in place of his training camp.
‘Espai Barca’ will also see the construction of a new stadium for the club’s basketball team and the green spaces around the Camp Nou.
