Barcelona started a new era with pretty good results. El Azulgrana defeated Granada 1-0 in its first match after being coached by Quique Setien. But, the players, including Sergio Busquets are reluctant to compare it with Ernesto Valverde.
The defeat of Atletico Madrid during the Supercopa de Espana semifinals a few days ago is the reason why Barcelona officials fired Valverde. Not long after, the Blaugrana appointed Setien as his successor.
The former Real Betis coach began his work pretty well. He helped his new team win full points at Camp Nou even with just one goal advantage. This makes the 61-year-old coach compared to his predecessor.
‘There is no need to compare (between Setien and Valverde). Every coach has his own style and a different view of football. You will see what Setien asks of us. But, we will not say what it is,’ Busquets said.
Busquets refuses to vilify Valverde and Setien. The 31-year-old defensive midfielder feels both of them have contributed each to Barcelona. So, there is no need to appoint who is better.
‘We are happy with what Valverde did. We are also happy because we currently have Setien. We have gained good momentum. Hopefully, we can continue to advance and win all the titles available,’ said Busquets.
