Alex Marquez set a target to become the Rookie of the Year in his debut season in the MotoGP class. He will learn a lot from Marc Marquez to achieve his target.
Alex will undergo his debut season in the MotoGP class in the 2020 season. Status as the Moto2 champion in the 2019 season, he was contracted for one season by the Repsol Honda team to replace the role of Jorge Lorenzo who retired.
Alex will be a teammate of his own brother, Marc Marquez. He set a target to become a Rookie of the Year.
But he realized the target would not be achieved easily. The 23-year-old rider feels that he still needs to know more about the Honda RC213V motorbike which will be his ride in the 2020 season.
Alex will learn more about getting to know his motorcycle from Marc. But he explained that the race would not be easy with only one team with his brother who is a MotoGP world champion six times.
‘I can say that I want to become a Rookie of the Year – that is my first goal. But to achieve targets related to the position or the other, now I have to focus on understanding motorbikes to build my confidence,’ Alex was quoted as saying on BikeSportNews.
‘Before the Qatar race, I could see more or less where I really was and what we could do since the first race. We knew we were brothers but in our team, we had to be professional, we were different racers.’
‘We each have our own team, so we need to work our own way. What is certain to me is the advantage of having two MotoGP worlds in my garage six times because I can see a lot of data from it. See how I need to drive a Honda engine this,’ he added.
